There is something quietly revolutionary about RIAS Jaipur. At first glance, the pieces feel simple—clean lines, fluid silhouettes, an ease of movement that appeals to the modern woman. But beneath that calm exterior lies an extraordinary effort: a young label attempting to hold an entire cultural lineage in its hands.
Founded in 2017 by NIFT graduates Arshia and Avishek, RIAS is not merely a brand—it is a preservation project. A gentle rebellion. A reminder that the soul of Indian textiles lives not in museums but in the hands of artisans who have carried these traditions across generations.
Their work brings two ancient crafts back into the light:
Dabu/Bagru from Rajasthan and hand block printing over handwoven fabrics from Bengal. RIAS calls it a “cocktail” of craft traditions, but it feels more like a conversation—between regions, between histories, between the past and the present. Their studio becomes the meeting ground where ancient mud-resist techniques and handwoven textiles find new relevance through contemporary design.
What makes RIAS even more compelling is its quiet commitment to the land. Indigenous wild cotton. Bamboo fibre. Homegrown textiles. Every choice is intentional, honouring Indian farmers and acknowledging the ecosystems that support these crafts.
Their silhouettes are minimal yet expressive—relaxed cuts, thoughtful details, a palette that feels both grounded and global. These are clothes made with sensitivity, for women who appreciate ease without compromising on depth or origin.
Most of all, RIAS stands for a value we hold deeply at Canvas & Weaves: the belief that craft is not nostalgia—it is a living, breathing practice. And every garment is a small act of keeping that practice alive.
A “small initiative to #SAVEINDIANTEXTILE,” as they humbly call it.
To us, it feels much larger.
