K.R. Santhana Krishnan’s Open Doors series turns attention to the doors of South India, treating familiar architectural features as records of place, time and cultural memory. Surfaces, marks and traces of use become important parts of the visual experience, suggesting that an ordinary doorway can hold layers of history beyond its practical purpose.
By focusing on found surfaces and the details that accumulate over time, the series encourages viewers to notice the character of materials and the stories they seem to carry. The result is an artistic exploration of architecture that also speaks to memory, belonging and the passage of time.
