Diya Sethi lived in London for several years and graduated from University of the arts London (London College of Communication) with a degree in Graphic Design. She is also an alumnus of Sotheby's Institute of Art, where she studied Art History.
In 2008, Diya returned to India to establish her graphic design practice, which speacialises in digital art and bespoke graphic design services.
Diya draws inspiration from several masters of the design world and finds her work particularly influenced by the famous German designer Dieter Rams:
“Good design is as little design as possible. Less, but better because it concentrates on the essential aspects, and the products are not burdened with non-essentials. Back to purity, back to simplicity.”
Diya's art imbibes contemporary and minimalistic elements. Her work is characterised by depictions of nature and an abstract interpretation of her surroundings.
Her approach on the canvas begins with a hand sketch scanned into a computer and then enhanced using computerised digital tools to bring the visual artistic expression to life. This is finally laser-printed on to a large archival canvas.
In addition to being exhibited in India (Gallery Articulate, New Delhi), Diya 's paintings are sought by interior designers in India, the UK and other private clients.
