The title of this painting comes from a quote from JRR Tolkeins' book, the Hobbit.. "Come snow after fire and even dragons have their endings". Bilbo makes this comment while making his way back up the misty mountains, as he looks back at snow covered Erabor. The quest that he had undertaken was now over and it was time to go home. The artist likens this piece of writing to one experienced after a tumultuous and arduous relationship.. where relief comes through resolution and one must embrace the vacant but quiet space that follows. There, under the blanket of snow, rests the sleeping dragon. there is peace. It is time to move on. This is a multi layered, mixed media work on stretched canvas.
