Passage is inspired by a disused rail track at the Bukit Timah Rail Corridor. Frequent visits to this space evoke childhood nostalgia, moments of innocence and joyful abandon preserved in time. The rail corridor used to be a connection between two countries and now, in its state of disuse it connects the past to the present and then into the future. A passage through time and through treasured memories of the distant past. This artwork is created in two panel, signifying two eras, yet the transition from one to the other is seamless...much like the historical events that would have transpired. This mixed media work employs coffee & bitumen on stretched cotton canvas.
